The Presentations for the latest ASPO meeting are now available:

aspo-usa.org

This one is especially important for anybody invested in natural gas companies:

aspo-usa.org

Art claims that the true cost of gas in the shale plays is between $7 - $8. The companies that are claiming lower costs are playing accounting games with the EUR (estimated ultimate recovery) to make things seem far more profitable than they are. Slide 13 says it all:

What Do the Operators Claim?
CHK = 2.65 Bcf/well
DVN = 2.2 Bcf/well
XTO = 3.3 Bcf/well

Compared to a study using these operators previous shale wells encompassing over 1100 wells that have an average EUR of .95 Bcf/well.

Makes me want to stick to oil.
