I find the war on drugs to be somewhat futile and hypocritical.

Put it in the same cubby hole as alcohol and cigarettes. There will always be people who abuse and destroy their families and health because they use drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

The biggest argument against legalizing drugs is what it does to kids and the addiction factor. That's going to happen whether drugs are legal or not. Drugs are ubiquitous and kids can get anything they want for not much money.

I say legalize them and tax them the same way alcohol and cigarettes are now. Then use the same approach and campaign being used against cigarettes to shame and embarrass people.

That would reduce the prison population, neutralize gangs, reduce murders, etc.
