I was never more than low intermediate skier, but I never got hurt because I was cautious.

I learned to be cautious on the trapline. We were on snowshoes a few miles from the truck when my Pard and I started horsing around. His Pop nailed us right away and told us it was too hard to pack us out from there so cut it out. Neither of us has been hurt in the woods ever since, and that was fifty years ago.

We have an agreement: Don't come looking for three days because we're probably just too tired to make it out all the way. If we fall off a cliff or something (possible, but unlikely because of our caution) the agreement is: Take the pistol but leave the body 'cause we're where we want to be and the pistol is too good to waste.
