I think that there is a bit more to it than just the illegality.

I do think that the other side of the coin with legalizing drugs is that we have to take away the rewards for those who would destroy their lives.

Though I am all for eliminating welfare, I am realistic in that it ain't going away in my lifetime. However, I think that anyone receiving any type of welfare should be required to take periodic drug tests. There's no way that we the people should be obligated to support someone who is trying to destroy their lives.
