Puma Intersects 1% Cu Over 97 Metres on Its Turgeon, New Brunswick Deposit

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 20, 2009) - In its drillhole F09-01, Exploration Puma (TSX VENTURE: PUM.V) has encountered a major intersection more than 60 metres in length, including 1.5 % Cu over 63 metres and 1 % Cu over 97 metres.

This drillhole has identified two zones (A and B) a few metres apart, consisting of copper-rich stockworks with attractive intersections and grades. One sample of 13 % Cu over 0.60 metres, 14 samples with more than 4 % Cu, and 37 samples with more than 1 % Cu were found in a total of 102 samples.

The main goals of this drill campaign were to confirm the geologic model of the deposit, i.e., to characterize the metal zoning of the VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide type) model, to define the nature of the VMS deposit in terms of various geologic parameters (structure, alteration, and lithology), and to confirm the continuity of the mineralization present.

Objectives of the three drillholes:

- F09-01: to intersect a Cu-rich network of veins and veinlets (stockwork)

- F09-02: to intersect the Zn- and Cu-rich massive sulphide zone;

- F09-03: to investigate the continuity of the lens on surface.

Puma has now completed the three-drillhole, 435-metre program on its Turgeon, New Brunswick deposit. Analytical results from the first drillhole are complete and the other data will be presented shortly, in an upcoming press release.

About Turgeon

The Turgeon deposit is located only 20 kilometres north of the Nicholas-Denys property, and 5 km south of the deepwater port of Belledune. The property is accessible by road all year round, and is crossed by a power line.

In 1983, Esso Minerals used the results from drilling carried out over a fifty-year period to estimate an historic resource of 1.5 to 2.0 million tonnes of 1.5% Cu and 4% Zn. These mineral resource estimates were carried out before the establishment of the NI43-101 standard. They are presented for information purposes, to illustrate the scope of the mineralization.

The deposit consists of four lenses of rich zinc-copper mineralization, two of which outcrop on surface. Examples of interesting intersections include Drillholes E82-77 with 2.5% Cu over 34.1 metres, E82-54 with 2.7 % Cu over 36.2 metres, H88-108 with 5.6 % Zn - 1 % Cu over 23.4 metres, and H77-1 with 5.3 % Zn - 2 % Cu over 11.4 metres.

Since work started in 1958, 132 holes have been drilled on the deposit, for a total drill advance of more than 26,630 metres. Of these, 88 holes have been drilled in an area 400 m by 400 m, and have defined three lenses of copper-zinc mineralization, striking southwest and dipping at about 45 degrees, to a vertical depth of about 250 metres. Puma is concentrating its efforts on the near-surface portion of the first lens.

The samples were analyzed at the ALS Chemex laboratory in Val d'Or using the atomic-absorption and ICP methods.
