Obviously some writers are more talented than others and in addition to that, some can proof read their text better also, but once a writer misreads something they intended to write knowing what they meant to say, errors become harder and harder to see. There's no question a good editor can provide invaluable assistance. By Mr. Packs own acknowledgement it is also clear that the book he published wouldn't have been the same without Mary's input.
