Yes, the dems did start the Viet Nam war and we liberals got rid of the dems that were part of it.

I protested in the streets and in the National Guard (got in big trouble) against the Viet Nam war, and we liberals got rid of LBJ by backing Eugene Macarthy and Bobby Kennedy. I was never going to fight over there. Stupid war defending French colonial rule? Stupid war.

My brother fought over there, but he only had an 8th grade education and did not know better; and was never the same when he got back.

We liberals take care of our mistakes. We get rid of bums like LBJ; and we got rid of LBJ. He said a couple of days before he was going to lose a major primary to Macarthy: "I will not seek, nor will I accept, the nomination of my party for a second term as presdient of the United States". Later LBJ said: "the kids were right, I blew it".

Clean for Gene was the mantra of the day. Although misguided dems started that war, the liberals worked the hardest to end it and demonstrated against it as soon as LBJ started escalating it.

The right wing did not want to leave viet Nam, they wanted to win and fought the demonstrators. By the end it was mostly the dems fighting to get out of Viet Nam and the right wing that wanted to stay in.

That is the history.
