For years we gathered at my folks house until they got too old and infirm. Same thing with sometimes 2 or 3 card tables for the kids. Everybody brought something. It would take a table with an extra leaf in the kitchen and a long counter to hold all the food. Very little left.

Back in the 60s, I told a joke, which is now known as the broccoli joke. The rule was that if there was a "new" person who hadn't heard the joke, they would have to sit through it. It became a tradition that prevails to this day when we get together. There are a ton of stories that have come out of the "joke" that also get retold.
