Wallow is the right term. I have a 64 year old SIL who is still blaming all of her problems on her parents. They're long gone, she had a marvelous upbringing, wanted for nothing, but in her mind they were just "awful."

I wonder if she'd been happier if she'd been an only child. She comes from a family of 9.
