Ed, the last time the XAU reached without breaking its 16 months downtrend was in feb 97 and it did it recently in september before the Swiss were melting their chocolate... I think you are right with some key date happening today or tomorow. I will have bet for a reversal due to Iraq, the indian liberalization of gold advanced from Jan 98 to yesterday and the statement from Swiss finance minister that they will sell only 400 and not 1450 tonnes, but gold seems to be on prozac... did your Dad came out with some ideas?
