Had the government had the option of not fighing WWII and spent the same amount of money on roads, bridges and infrastucture we would have done even better.
Not sure what you mean by "done even better", but it was WWII, not the government hiring out of work people, that ended the Great Depression.
I already know you don't read. But if you wanted to educate yourself on THIS subject (while you're reading up on AQ & 9/11), you might check it out:

A great book. It explains, in language you may be able to understand, about how FDR's policy actually PROLONGED the depression. And there isn't merely ONE reason, but there are many.
Friedman wrote this blurb for the book --
"Admirers of FDR credit his New Deal with restoring the American economy after the disastrous contraction of 1929—33. Truth to tell–as Powell demonstrates without a shadow of a doubt–the New Deal hampered recovery from the contraction, prolonged and added to unemployment, and set the stage for ever more intrusive and costly government. Powell’s analysis is thoroughly documented, relying on an impressive variety of popular and academic literature both contemporary and historical."
These are the words of a Nobel prize winning economist.
I know, given what you think of the Nobel prize, that you wouldn't want to argue with him. BTW, do you think Friedman knows "econ 101"? |
