2.5 hr Obama meeting with Olbie, Maddow, Dowd, etc - takes time to write stories for these hacks.
..... the White House’s problem isn’t with FOX at all because FOX isn’t the source of any of these stories.
Van Jones didn’t come from FOX, it came from Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit. ACORN didn’t come from FOX but from two intrepid activists via Breitbart’s Big Government. Similarly, the NEA story didn’t come from FOX, it came from one individual, Patrick Courrielche, writing at Big Hollywood who had the nerve to tape the conference call and report on it. And, not to toot our own horn, but they weren’t too happy with the “wise Latina” story that originated right here at VS.
Question: How do you stop an army of Davids?
Answer: It can’t be done… But you can delegitimize the one media source that dares to broadcast their stories to the wider public.
This is the real motivation behind the White House strategy. It’s not about FOX, not really. It’s about all the little people FOX has allowed into the debate. Troublemakers who, the White House believes, don’t deserve a seat at the table.
And that’s also why, as irked as many in the MSM probably are over being patted on the head by the White House, they’ll play along. Because there’s one thing they fear more than government censorship and that’s losing their prestige (and their jobs) to a bunch of nobodies on the internet.
Update: This is just unbelievable. Even as the White House whines about FOX not being “real news” they invite Olbermann, Maddow and Dowd in for a chat:
On Monday, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one from Fox News was in the room.
These people represent news?
What in the hell could you talk to a bunch of airheads like that for 2 and a half hours about? DETAILED instructions about what to say on air and in print? Probably had to repeat everything real slowly for Olbermann.
Oh yeah, the guy who can't talk to the guy running the Afghan war can spend 2-1/2 hours with the troops fighting the war on Fox.
[HT: Hot Air headlines for the update story]
One More: Ace notes that Gloria Borger wrote a piece attacking Republicans immediately after the private meeting with Obama. Ace fisks her, in delightful detail, and shows that her “analysis” is a thoroughly biased wad of agit-muck handed her by the administration.
Yep, that confirms it - that 2-1/2 hours were spent delivering story lines.
