There are certainly some people on the right who hate Obama enough they are willing to see the US take hits (like the Olympic bid failure) because they think these somehow damage Obama. But I suspect those folks are in the minority. After the weird spectacle of some on the right being unhappy about our president winning the nobel prize, some conservatives came out and said, "Hey, I'm an American and my president won something." So that's nice, right? Same with terrorism. I'm sure there are some republicans (probably most) who are glad Obama's police strategy is working, and that we have actually foiled attacks. Those few people who might want an attack to show Obama is "bad" are really crazy. It's just best to ignore them.

As for Bush Cheney et all, almost everyone who has been in office wants to make money after- that's just our system. Nothing wrong with it.

I am glad Obama did not hastily increase our troops. I think it's time for us to leave. What we would "win" in Afghanistan is, and always has been, invisible. I'm not sure anyone has a realistic view of what a "win" would look like- and I can't remember when someone successfully subdued the Afghans:

The Brits and the Russians have both enjoyed sojourns in Afghanistan....

I'm hoping we can cut our Eastern adventure short, before we waste more lives and money.
