We got an email from the "U.S. Treasury" yesterday (in the spam box) telling us after review of our account we were due for a refund of $2438.20. All I had to do was click on the download link at the bottom of the email.

I was suspicious right away. I went to the U.S. treasury web site and with the intention of getting a phone number so I could call them. I found the number and got a "this number has been disconnected" message, but I found a fraud page telling me the IRS never emails individuals. I also sent the email forward to them.

Yes..........there are a lot of scam artists out there. I haven't received anything like what you describe, but I'll be on the lookout and let you know if I do.
