(NYSE: MOT) today announced the first major deployment of its RF over Glass (RFoG) solution with leading regional cable operator MetroCast Communications. MetroCast will deploy the Motorola RFoG solution at select Virginia properties in specific rebuild areas, upgrading existing coaxial networks to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) as it moves to increase bandwidth capacity for new digital and high-definition television (HDTV) channels, provide video on demand (VoD) services, voice services and tiered broadband services.
