A local LA tech analyst who has been following QCOM for years agrees that QCOM's big revenue stream will be from royalties, not "stuff"; he has questioned the need for QCOM to even bother with producing handsets. I dunno. All I know is what I read in the papers and hear on the radio. Seems to me that Jim's scenario for IDC isn't that much different from what I see for QCOM: both stand to make their money from licensing and royalties.
Eudora, I've heard, was a practice run for QCOM so that they could learn something about dealing with a large customer base. May have been practice for software construction as well.
Does anyone here follow Nextel? (CALL) jfred
