As I've pointed out, it isn't the use of generics that has resulted in the efficiency.

It is the use of private insurers rather than a bloated government bureaucracy to provide the services. The increased use of generics represents a small portion of the massive savings of this program over what was projected.

It wasn't Republican rocket science, but it does show that the idea of a privately run organization -- an idea promulgated by Rs, not Ds -- is far more sensible than that of creating a big bloated fat pig of a government bureaucracy.
