The DOJ/INS appropriations bill remains in conference committee.

However, there is a little good news in that the Senate leadership has made a deal on providing a campaign finance reform vote later, so that there is no danger of a filibuster this month that could have prevented this kind of legislation from passing. The House on Tuesday rejected an attempt to instruct its conferees on a different subject of the INS bill.

We don't have information on whether the provisions of the bill are being changed in conference. I really don't think that should be a concern on our small issue.

I'll stick with my November prediction for the bill to pass, and if you press me, I'd guess sometime during the second or third week of November.

I'm going out of town and will be offline for a couple of days. Try not to have 300 messages for me to read when I get back.
