Apart from the fact that Maurice loves to prod folks and push buttons - we sometimes do sound hysterical.

Come on - the left wing went nuts over Bush. They sometimes were so enraged at the very idea of him, they lost site of reality. Just yesterday I heard this nutcase on an NPR show making the point that if Obama had not been elected Bush would have been impeached (I guess she had no concept of fixed elections and term limits - maybe she never went to any civics classes :-).

The birther types seem similarly unhinged (remember the vote in the Senate confirming McCain's citizenship to defend him from the moveon nutcases, even the Dem's helped him out).

Obama is unfortunately assuming his election (by a single digit margin) is a mandate for dramatic change - and as a result push back is occurring.

Democrats and even the press are starting to see that having the Executive branch capable of suppressing media and critics might not be good.

If they get their wet dream and put in laws that censor talk radio and Fox - what happens to them if they ever lose control? If they go ahead and hold trials for CIA staff or former Bush appointee's - what happens to Obama's folks if we are ever attacked?

The direction is worse than Nixon - and the polling is showing it.

Now as to big R vs little r republican's - do we really want a parliamentary system where the parties vote and think as a block? In the past we have had very conservative, pro-Military Dem's. Likewise we have had socially progressive Republican's. Variety is good - if the Dem's were completely unified - we would be in big trouble. The blue dogs are keeping it sane right now.
