I've been playing with Microsoft NetMeeting (free download from the MS Web site, also comes with IE4) and a Connectix Quickcam (the oldest, original B&W model that I borrowed). It's fussy to used & get set up, but I am surprised at how well it works and the price is right. This is on a P-166 non-MMX. My impression also is that the phone line is the limiting factor, but with a faster phone line, larger picture or faster frame rate, the CPU would quickly become the limiting factor. I'm using a USRX 56k X2 modem, but in this application I am getting no more than 33.6, even if the other person also has a 56k modem.
