A couple years ago there were some "skinheads" that decided to prey on some of the homeless that hung around the mall for a handout. They actually killed a guy and beat another mercilessly. That's why I say it's a good place to avoid at night. During the day, it's a great scene and a lot of fun. They work at keeping it clean and the shops are enjoyable. The free bus ride is a trip for sightseers for the dozen or so blocks it travels.
