i went to one of those vertical shopping malls in Shanghai, with 50 booths on each floor. the sales people were impressively agressive sellers of their merchandise.

during some negotiations, since many of the items could easily be sourced in the usa, for example, i attempted to determine their cost of doing business..... i.e. their bottom line in making my offers.

i asked my friend what he thought about all that, after we left.

he said: there is no bottom line like that. the price is simply what someone is willing to pay. and most of the time, that works, no matter what.
