How can there be more buying than selling? This is an oxymoron. Every share sold has a buyer. To oversimplify, a stock goes up when the urgency of buyers is more than the urgency of sellers. What counts is the amount of money flowing, not the number of people. A single buyer for 10,000 shares is the same as 10 for 1000 shares, and the price goes up if the buyer wants to buy the shares now, but the sellers are reluctant to sell at previous lower prices. Raising prices makes sellers less reluctant.
