"“To be able to come out with a sexy flagship device that is getting so much promotion from Verizon and really shows off their hardware skills — it looks like their bet on Android is going to pay off,” said Avi Greengart, the research director for consumer devices at Current Analysis"

Are your sure that's a NYT article? It reads like a PR piece. Verizon is promoting the Android out of desperation. ATT/Apple is kicking their a$$, and the Droid is their only chance for 2009's peak selling season. And "sexy"? Somehow I doubt it, but the market will decide if it's sexy, not Verizon.
