I was keeping my powder dry at $4 - $7. Suddenly, those $2.50 put contracts for January and February (1.84 million shares) are not looking so bad. And they haven't budged. Seems like a foregone conclusion. Just when the overall market is about to break.

In any case, I do not believe that anyone is actually banking on $2.50. The mother lode payoff is probably below that price, but I suspect that they are already in-the-money. It is all too convenient.

I stated recently that "I wouldn't read too much into options, except maybe as a contrarian indicator." I should qualify: unless you suspect market manipulation. For the record, this possibility has not guided my trading much.
