Who's Whose Daddy?

Yo cuf,

"If the season ended right now, the Giant's would face the Phillies in the playoffs. ... The season has a bit (too much) to go, but should the Phils face the Giants come September or so, we'll have to fashion an appropriate wager. - cuf, 8/3/09 -

<< You're slowing down, old boy. It took you from August 2 to October 29 to think of a witty response to my post.>>

In August I was watching the Eagles annihilate themselves in camp and open the NFL preseason, then the season. MLB in August? I couldn't be bothered.

Besides, I was waiting for the Giants to qualify for a trip to Philly so we could fashion an appropriate wager. The season didn't end back then. September came and went and the Giants were a no show.

<< btw, Pedro wasn't all that influential tonight. >>

I like Pedro and he pitched a very decent game (but with a very fresh bullpen Charlie left him in an inning too long and it really surprised me that he came out for the 7th -- almost as much as the fact that he started game 2 rather than 3) and A.J. Burnett really pitched a whale of a game -- almost as good as Lee's the prior evening even though he didn't go all the way,

<< You've convinced me to root for the Damned Yankees. Care to make a wager? >>

No. Not even at Las Vegas odds. Even up I've already taken the Yanks with one of my golf mates and don't care to hedge. Our bullpen isn't what it was last year and I think the combo of the small home field advantage (despite how the Phillies play on the road) and Jose Molina give the Yanks and Edge. That and the fact that the 2009 version of Cole Hamels (like Brad Lidge) isn't the 2008 version, and he gets the start on Saturday evening. He was as off base as you back in August ...

“It’s just going to be a battle,” Hamels said when faced with the thought of playing the Giants in the playoffs. “They're definitely a type of team that will go to the post-season just for the fact that they have really strong pitchers, so it'll be interesting. It'll be fun—definitely fun to watch what goes on.”

The decimated Iggles went 1-1 but stunk up the field the last 2 weeks against weak competition. As December 20th approaches we can talk about a sensible wager and how many points you'll be giving for the Niners visit to the Linc.
