10/30/09 update
Thursday was the treat, then Friday came the trick. Not the way it's supposed to work by Halloween tradition, but the Vampire Squids of Wall Street have always played by a different set of rules. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 30.13% CYTD, or Contest Year To Date, (vs. up 37.09% CYTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 5.98% CYTD (vs. up 10.95% CYTD a week ago). Desanguination of the Contest portfolios was even more extreme, with the median now only up 1.72% CYTD (vs. up 12.65% CYTD a week ago).
The Contest pecking order remained unchanged. The week's closing CYTD percentages are: RKRW up 106.32%, GENE up 62.37%, NIGEL up 58.58% and GEORGIA up 55.81%.
At Friday's close, 17 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 14 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
Portfolio adjustments:
XTNT, only held in PRAVN's portfolio, appears to have stopped trading. So I'm using its final closing price in my spreadsheet.
Enjoy a Scary Halloween weekend biotechies!
