I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this any more.”
TV infotainment/news anchor Howard Beale—portrayed by Peter Finch in the 1976 film Network—raged against modern times with that “mad as hell” lament. Reality, however, demonstrates 33 years later that being mad as hell makes no difference if we continue to take it.

Was reading this article and an incident that happened last time I was in Vegas popped into my head. I had taken a walk down Freemont (much prefer old Vegas, don't do the strip), about 10pm, bands playing, light show, lots of people. Noticed a guy hawking cigarettes. On my way back he approached me, offered a carton for $20, two for $35. Being curious (I'm funny that way, sometimes) as to where this might lead I agreed so off we go into the drugstore on the corner, stood in checkout line about 10 people deep. Guy explains he knows the cashier, they're working together, he has to do the transaction so I need to give him the money. Tell him I can't do that, he shrugs and we walk out of the store. Back outside he turns to me and says don't look down on me because this is how I make my money and disappears into the crowd. I didn't have the chance to reassure him that I didn't.
Don't know why I felt the need to relate this, typing practice, waiting to see where they open the market.
Hope Bill is Ok.
