I am sorry......more people in this country believe in evolution than not.
But they're all taught evolution. Furthermore, people who reject it know as much or more about it than those who accept it. Its not mis-education there, its simple rejection.
Why should creationism get equal billing with evolution when there is little science behind it? Its more about religion than science.
7 Stifling of free enterprise
Given all the corruption and exorbitant salaries that exist in industry, I would say its the opposite.
Auto company bondholders were recently stiffed.
That happened once......and only after they refused to negotiate.
The government is retroactively tearing up compensation contracts in the financial industry. Many employers are fearful of hiring people because they don't know what taxes and mandates will be put on them in the coming year - see a recent post on the Coyoteblog in which the blogger a small businessman sees that the House bill will slash his margins. The government is trying to get legislation passed that will impose massive cost burdens on industry by requiring them to buy carbon credits.
The government has long been harmful to private enterprise ... but its worse than ever now.
Throughout history, private enterprise has been far more damaging to the average American than gov't.
8 Government mis-allocation of resources (example, the wasteful ethanol industy created by government policy)
Our country is too dependent on oil. You would prefer the gov't does nothing to correct the matter? I certainly don't.
Ethanol doesn't make financial or energy sense.
At one point it did in theory, now it doesn't look as good and we are moving away from it.
Nuclear would but liberal greens campaign against it. Democrats recently prevented the Yucca mtn waste storage site from being used.
Its not just liberals who oppose nukes. A majority of Americans oppose nuclear facilities. Chernobyl was very effective at scaring Americans to death.

I never heard of Larry David but I see he co produced Seinfeld.......one of the most popular shows on TV. Who exactly is this cultural elite you so fear?
People who mock the faith of tens of millions of Americans.
Maybe people would stop mocking them if they would stop insisting that everyone be like them.

Yeah, well.....STD have been around since man first birthed himself onto the planet. I don't think they are going anywhere.
No, they're becoming more prevalent. Now we can't prevent people with an incurable fatal STD from entering the country.

I specifically said the US isn't perfect in my first post on this subject. The whole 'US is perfect' meme was an attempt to distort my position.
The system our forefathers created, though not perfect, seems the best on earth I know of. Its led to unprecedented liberty and prosperity for > 200 years. Furthermore, America has been a bastion and defender of freedom and decency against the worst and most murderous tyrants human history has produced. Tens of millions, no hundreds of millions, are alive and free today because of America's efforts. The US is by far the most benign world power in world history.
Why do so many liberals like Gore Vidal and Michael Moore despise America and Americans so much?
They don't despise America....they just haven't bought into the brainwashing that you have. It starts when we are very young and it takes a lot to get beyond it. Many of us, though, are afraid to do so......once we realize that that which we love is not quite as pure as we thought, we tend to feel adrift......its easier to just believe the BS we've been taught. |
