Hey Jim,

Thanks... I posted to TT that I'll get back to him with more details of what I'm thinking about. I would like to hear anything you (or your grandfather <<gg>) might be so gracious as to share.

To be specific, my current position is:

Purchase 1000 shares 9/5/97 @ $47.00
Purchase 1250 shares 9/23/97 @ $50.25

Sold 22 calls 10/20/97 @.75 WDCAJ January 50 strike.

I purchase stocks that I believe have good fundamentals and have what I believe is a superior technology or superior business plan/management. I weight the latter much more strongly. WDC falls in the latter category in my opinion. I have been in the tech business since 1981.

I don't mind holding WDC till the cows come home, because I believe they will. With that said, this is margined stock and I don't wish to loose my leverage or make paper losses real. I am also not happy with lost opportunities due to having capital caught up in a slow gainer.

Carlyle

(INTC was a debacle, but I learned a lot about me, the market, and the people on SI. In my opinion, it was money well spent...)
