The point about the tragedy of the commons is that there is no point being the only one doing good, or even in the majority doing good. If just a few people ruin the commons, it's ruined. So it makes sense for people who believe in global warming as a human caused catastrophe to use their clothes driers if it improves their lives.

<Do you own a clothes dryer? If so how do you justify wasting electricity on what the wind and sun can do for you in your backyard?

How about a dishwashing machine? Again, you can wash your dishes in the sink and dry them with one of those towels you have dried on your back yard clothes line.

Self-denial is pointless. If there are only 100 fish left then the believer in quotas might as well join in grabbing the last one if that's what everyone is doing.

Maoris killed off all moas in NZ. The last one eaten might as well have been eaten by the people who did it because if they didn't, somebody else would. Better to eat the last one which gives strength to go and kill and eat some opposition tribes.
