Re the NY 23rd....We have close family ties there for generations in the Saranac Lake area....In the days from the Civil War time until the institute of the Adirondack Park Preserve, people came who wanted to get away from high government demands, and to work, raise their families, and enjoy the area. Many of the people who lived there were descendants from the Revolutionary War ancestors. Most were schooled in appreciation for what those early ancestors gave this country, and appreciated Freedom. At the turn of the 20th century, many of the wealthy folks came from NY and NJ came up to the Adirondacks to spend the summers before it became popular to jet off to Europe.
IMO, what has happened now, is that we have a new dynamic there. Children of the original service employees of the wealthy, have moved on to careers of their own and now live all over the country. Many of the children of the early wealthy now live all over the world and most of those feel guilty about their inherited money, so have become Socialists. The Rockerfeller family is a case in point, for example.
And the other deciding factor is the Adirondack Park Commission wants to turn the entire Preserve back to nature, so there is ZERO growth there. No one can make an adequate living, so many who still do live there are dependent upon government largess, both State and Federal. Most of those are no doubt, Democrats.
Look at any town, city, etc in this entire Country that continually votes for Democrats, and you will find sloth and disrepair in the center areas of those towns and cities.
Plus there you will find Democrats in a majority. |
