Friday October 31 12:55 PM EST RESEARCH ALERT - Cypress raised to buy CHICAGO, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Rodman & Renshaw Inc said Friday that it has upgraded its rating for Cypress Semiconductor Corp to a buy from a hold. Rodman said in a research report that pricing for SRAMs, the company's largest product line, was up about seven percent from Rodman's expectations two weeks ago. ''Improved demand and higher pricing leads us to believe that our 1998 and 1999 earnings per share estimates of $0.65 and $0.90 may be too conservative,'' the report said. Rodman also noted the stock price has sold off about 42 percent from its high of 18-15/16 and was now selling around a 52-week low of 10-1/8. Cypress Semiconductors manufactures digital integrated circuits. Its shares were trading up 1/4 at 11-1/8.
