Yesterday my daughter was driving her Mazda pickup on a freeway in the DC area, preparing to make an exit. A Prius cut her off from the inside lane to make the exit, and she braked so hard to avoid hitting him her pickup did a 180 and came to a stop.

The Prius made its exit, but traffic on the freeway kept on coming. The oncoming traffic made no attempt to slow down, but felt compelled to honk at her for facing upstream. Nobody stopped to help. No cops showed up.

Finally she was able to get turned around and resumed her trip home. She was so badly shaken her husband had to come home from work.

I advised her to make a police report and inform her insurance company in case there were any latent complications.

She says the drivers in the DC area are worse than California drivers, which I did not think was possible.
