Allen Vanguard presents new solution suites at Milipol for air-portable counter-IED operations, electronic countermeasures and vehicle crew survivability
10:00 GMT, November 4, 2009 Allen-Vanguard announced today that it will be presenting three new solution sets at the Milipol exhibition in Paris, France 17 - 20 November (stand number 13D075 in the UK pavilion).
The Light-scale, Air-portable Counter-IED and EOD suite enables teams conducting Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD), Conventional Munitions Disposal (CMD), and Search operations to quickly move an operator and specialty equipment in and out of forward positions over rough terrain or in areas with limited access. A ruggedized ATV and trailer enable rapid deployment with a variety of mission-specific gear, including:
• The highly versatile Digital Vanguard TM, a lightweight robot armed with CIED weapons • The Med-Eng EOD 9 bomb suit or SRS5 personal protective ensemble • Mine and ordnance locators, EOD toolkits and remote firing units • A complete array of search and detection equipment.
The Equinox Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) platform is a hybrid multi-function system with next-generation radio frequency sensing and unmatched jamming (ESM/ECM) protection against radio controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs). Its C4I compatibility enables it to operate seamlessly with communication systems of all types. The Equinox’s multi-role capability is fully networkable, software-definable and approaches the standards set by several large military development programs years in advance of their projected in-service dates. The system’s modular and adaptive open software and hardware architecture provides a future-proof capability that program managers seek and increasingly expect in order to meet current and emerging threats.
The Combat Vehicle Crew Survivability product suite protects vehicle crews from IEDs, including Radio Controlled IEDs, blast effects, and heat stress. The crew survivability suite includes:
• Blast attenuation seats for crew survivability • Customized cooling systems for personnel and electronics • On-board blast incident sensors • Personal protection for cupola gunners and dismounted personnel; • Mobile hydration systems for vehicle crew. • Equinox Electronic Countermeasures
“These new solution suites significantly improve the capabilities and survivability of personnel facing IEDs,” said David E. Luxton, President & CEO of Allen Vanguard. “The Equinox system has the potential to reshape the landscape of ECM technology for the mission-critical needs of the modern warfighter and security forces worldwide – now and long into the future. It is the result of our deep understanding of the RCIED threat and our advanced ECM technology innovation. By combining the very latest threat intelligence with mission-designed equipment and specialized training, we ensure that field personnel have a truly sustainable capability against ever-evolving threats.”
Delegates are encouraged to visit Allen Vanguard’s display at Milipol to discuss how these and other battle-proven technologies can help provide a comprehensive solution to IED and related threats to security and military forces. Kate Jacobs
