Yes...agreed about the lead fumes, but if caution is used casting can be safe. I really haven't been interested in learning a new discipline... which casting match quality bullets is. It costs me around $26.00/box of 50 for cast, but the problem is timely delivery. I ordered 10 boxes over 2 months ago. I can get timely delivery of 'swaged' bullets for $36.00 / 50....but that starts to add up in a hurry. 72 cents a round just for lead? Hell, I can a pound of lead for approx $1.25 in quantity delivered.
