Ted, > Neither Bentway nor I are on any FBI list.

I was responding to Longnshort's post (actually a copy-n-paste of MPH's post, probably from another thread):

Message 26077510

Let's say the only reason the FBI tracked Hasan was because of his postings on the Internet. I can probably Google hundreds of posts that are far worse than what Hasan was reported to have posted. Does that mean the FBI is tracking millions of Americans whose only sin is to post something stupid on the Internet?

First of all, its not clear that the FBI was tracking Hasan. There was an FBI guy on AC360 last nite and he said he thought that was a rumor. Secondly, in spite of inode's POV, Hasan does not fit the profile of a terrorist so there isn't reason to believe he would do what he did.

Frankly, I think the guy snapped.....he was afraid to go to Iraq. What's that theory......the simplest of truths is probably the right one. I think that's the truth about Hasan who probably wasn't the sanest of individuals to begin with.

Finally, in spite of what shortie's friend says, I was surprised at the tone in Obama's voice. I don't think I ever heard him more disturbed.

And btw, I don't even want to think about what the rest of the world is thinking about us. We look like the wild, wild west, not a like major power.

The bottom line is that if Hasan was on the FBI's list, there is probably a much better reason than some mundane Internet post.

I agree.
