So are you including fringe benefits in that 1900? IBM pays about 3500 to my annual medical insurance and if I take the same plan I have this year it will cost me 400/month, ie my insurance will cost 8300/year next year...That's a far cry from 23K and I will not choose to take the $400 plan. With all the options available to 1,000s of employees' and retirees, it is a nightmare to wade through them...I've spent 3 afternoons analyzing and comparing internal plans and external plans...most simply throw up their hands and sign for whatever they had last year...no matter the cost. Are med costs in Mass more expensive than NY? There are number of employers who still pay for all benefits, but these are generally union shops, including teacher, police, sanitation, firemen, etc... The teachers will be contributing this year....
