Of course we're all for that. No one is trying to convince Americans that we shouldn't retaliate defensively. The problem is sorting out who did, and who did not, "attack us", and then finding them and "destroying" them without creating more problems than we solve.

I find it simply amazing that you cannot grasp the fact that the Taliban harbored, supported, and PROTECTED Al Qaida, and especially Usama Bin Ladin.

Al Qaida would not have likely been able to train and orchestrate the kinds of operations it did without the sanctuary of the Taliban.

Furthermore, there is no doubt that the Taliban have aligned themselves with Al Qaida, entering into alliances with Bin Ladin:

We also informed Mullah Omar in 1998 that we would hold the Taliban responsible for any attacks undertake by Bin Ladin.

The Taliban WERE JUST AS RESPONSIBLE AS AL QAIDA.

So pull your head out of your "canyon" and understand who the enemy is.

Crap.. the most basic web queries on your part might have prevented from, once again, making an utter fool of yourself.
