Hi kidl, you got ignored over here, such a pity as the issue seems ideal to attract scambuster attention - public company gets whizzed from its shareholders in the dead of night, following months of secret negotiations, wiping out truckloads of money from placement buyers and taxpayers both ... just too much unknown here to be on the up-and-up, makes you wonder who's in bed with whom and when/how did exactly what start/develop, of interest to all punters because if they can get away with it, others will be pulling the same stunt ... of course they're not the first anyway, lots of dirty tricks in taking companies private, and it'll keep happening until people start standing up
On your specific question, Jeff's answer is right-on, SI is far from Stockhouse where their moral fibre seems not even to exceed their pitiful programming capabilities, there's a spine here to go with the competence, also they're subject to law that more favours freedom of speech, which no doubt helps
The petition is a good idea, wider exposure is what it takes to get politicians going ... eventually it's an affair for the mounties, IMETs teams, see how good they are back east [it is said they're pretty sharp in E division, but very under-staffed], probably have quite a to-do list already but with enough public outcry priorities have been known to change ... i think you're on the right track here -
