Stewart was using parody, which most people undertood quite well. How do you address facts and logic when Beck makes no sense. Beck does not use facts and logic he just makes stuff up in a nonsensical stream of consciousness.

And that was what Stewart was pointing out so well.

When Beck talks, it is like a baby babbling. If one sees a grown man babbling like a baby and being taken seriously by people, parody works very well.

So a comedian will babble like that man and most people will undertand the humor.
