Mark,
Thanks for the condolences, lol, you can empathsize with my unfortunate predicament! :-/
As for alternate sources? Not really..........you either buy it from the state or bring it back from out of state trips, or have friends bring it back for you, etc. (technically illegal here, lol). Mail order is a no-no here, but the State has done a better job the past few years, stocking a reasonably decent selection of wines to choose from.
Have spent the past two days doing nothing but pheasant hunting - catching up on e-mails and such at the moment. Thanks for the tips on Gamay, and I will try some of those if I can find them!! Love Gamay and Cotes Du Rhone reds :-)
Very familiar with Ste Chapelle and there is always a bottle, or two, or three...........around here ;-)
I tend to be a drinker of wines in the $12 to $30 per bottle range. On the occasions when I've spent egregious (imho) amounts of money on a bottle of wine.............I just haven't been able to honestly say that I could discern a meaningful difference...............I guess I need more practice, lol, something which being an active participant on this thread might well afford me!
A successful hunt this weekend!! Tomorrow's dinner is going to be fresh pheasant breasts, butterflied and coated simply with "Dixie Fry" and black pepper, and fried in peanut oil in a cast iron skillet..................wine selection, humm?? |
