Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
New Zealand SB from Marlborough is quickly becoming an industry standard, and IMO this is a textbook SB, and very enjoyable. Here are someone else's tasting notes:
Fragrant and complex, with a refreshing burst of lime, guava, grapefruit and grass flavors. Wet stone, passion fruit and oyster shell accents add interest, with bright acidity highlighting the vivid finish. Another outstanding Sauvignon from a perennial success. Drink now
Winery notes:
Deriving from the French word sauvage (“wild”) and blanc (“white”) ours is a crisp an powerful, well balanced wine with intense aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and citrus flavours. This light to medium bodied aromatic wine to match with salads, seafood and vegetarian dishes and a perfectly acceptable quaffer!
It retails for $20, but you can usually find it at discount places including Costco between $10 and $14. It's widely available and consistent, a very dependable buy if you like the style.
I guess I should mention that like many quality NZ wines, it's a screw cap, but that doesn't bother me.
