I think we're arguing semantics here. My definition of "It's an AQ attack" is a lot more broad and has far fewer implications than yours.

Al Qaeda doesn't have a leader. It doesn't have a well-connected network. They don't even have a convention. All they have is an ideology, which is spread by sympathizers via various means.

I think you, like Ted, are trying to deny any connection with Al Qaeda (although Ted went further with his denial) because you're afraid of the potential reaction.
