<Are you a pro abortion Catholic?>

No of course not... but I AM in favor of proper dialogue and all ideas being expressed rather than proclamations by no nothing religionists looking to impose their 'beliefs' on others and limit their rights in favor of more government intervention.

<Again surrogacy and the fact that fertilization and growth can and does take place apart from any support from the mother proves that the Mother and child's temporarily shared physiology does not necessarily equate to a single identity of being between the two.>

Well, it seems the best and very compelling evidence that I've seen. I've certainly not seen anything posted here that is better, but have at it. So far there is little of use IMHO... the 3 year old example is quite distant.

<They are not one individual but two. Both reason and science lead to that inevitable conclusion. >

AS I said, you can proclaim that all you want, but so far you've produced little to back it up.

<Let's say I take a test tube baby and implant it into a surrogate who is now host to the child. Lets say I then do a DNA test to see who's child it is. Is the surrogate mother going to show up as the biological parent?>

What's the point... that DNA = person? I think that is beside the point. Why don't you give it some thought instead of just blurting out hopeful ideas?

You might want to read up on the psychology of being a surrogate mother though... pretty interesting.

<Also dependency on the mothers physiology only necessarily extends to viability.>

Could be... grey area of course... no one want a premature baby for example. But clearly that angle of discussion points towards 'more personhood' as developement proceeds.

<Do you support abortion beyond viability as well?>

I don't "support abortion". Each case is probably dramatically different unless one completely ignores the mother... which seems to be the case at times.

I think it would be interesting to do a study comprised of mothers describing their mental states, experiences, etc with having children, having abortions, etc. Of course that would tick a lot of folks off as being a waste of money.

In which case I think letting women decide (as indeed analogously their bodies also do in any case) was a pretty wise decision... since as a male I can't imagine what goes through a womans mind... and therefore a whole can of worms is avoided.. the individual psychological state of the woman for the purposes of assigning level of guilt, prosecution, etc.
