The interesting question is whether x86 + application specific IP will compete against ARM + AS IP. Intel is attempting to push that approach, but its early in that game, and little is known about their design wins (if any??). Of course Intel is not wanting the 3'rd parties to get access to Intel CPU IP, which is rather the opposite approach of ARM. There is currently a huge market for low power mobile devices, and most the hot products don't use x86 and don't use MS OS's. So why is that going to change just because Intel and AMD finaly start pushing out designs that get into acceptable power ranges, given the guarded IP issues with x86 CPU's?
