CBC 12:30 P.M. NEWS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1997 1. Anvil Range Mining will be shutting its ore processing mill down Tuesday morning and laying off 85 workers. Victor Wells is the CFO for the mining company. He says the shut down should not come as a surprise. (Wells) "The mill was started for the purposes of a test and the testing period at the mill is coming to an end and accordingly the workers are being laid off while we wind the mill down." Anvil Range has been trying to raise $25 million dollars for months to go back into full production. Wells would not comment on how much of that they've been able to attract.
