It sounds like I have put myself on a similar diet as your dad. No red meat, mostly fish, some lean white meat, no dairy products, lots of carbs, lots of beans, nuts OK, fish oil supplements...

I guess the major hurdle is trying to get the liver to behave. The majority of cholesterol in our blood comes from what the liver produces not from what we eat...although what we eat influence the operation of the liver. Some studies even have said eggs lower cholesterol. The theory being that the mega dose of cholesterol in them tells the liver to slow down on cholesterol production (but no eggs for me anyhow).

Some of us seem pooched no matter what from genetics. Anyhow, I will get my cholesterol checked again in 6 months to see if I am doing any good at all...
