What a laugh. You post a nonsensical blurb that, reduced to its essence, simply says that you admire the use of violence when we use it and abhor it when "they" use it and you think that's a brilliant, argument ending post. That's rich, and even more rich is the point you make to justify your seemingly senseless distinction, i.e.:
"The only difference is that they used military force to establish totalitarian "order" for the purpose of dominating, subjugating, and pillaging the country for their OWN benefit, not the people at large....But our goal is to create a stable society that has a government that is elected by, and accountable TO, it's citizens."
Forgetting for the moment that "we" are going into THEIR country and killing their citizens, and even forgetting whether the majority of THEM think they want what YOU INSIST ON FOR THEM, who the hell asked THEM if the potential benefits of our "help" is justified by the costs?
And how do you get around the fact that, as a practical matter, we have no strategy that appears to be potentially effective in achieving YOUR godlike goal?
And how do you get by ignoring the fact that a majority of people in THIS DEMOCRACY will NEVER agree to spend the treasure and the blood that it will take FOR YOU to TRY to play god over there?
You just don't get it, do you? The sad fact is that many people may want democracy and freedom but that's not enough. They have to have a culture that can act with justice when given the power of democracy and they have to want it badly enough to fight and die for it. And YOU can't give them a culture of justice nor can you create a willingness to fight and die for freedom in the hearts of the "moderate" Middle Easterners you so often pimp as your supporters.
So do me a favor and shed your delusions of grandeur. With the possible exception of those who are overcome with laughter, your posts don't silence anybody.
And if all you have in reply is another of your standard, "you don't understand that they want to kill us" responses, just cut and paste from any of the more than a dozen such replies you've posted in the past. Ed |
