Then why are we spending many billions more than they are?

To get a better military not a bigger one.

A better military means that when we fight we use firepower, speed, and skill, rather than lives (yes Americans die, but if we used methods and equipment like China's we would have more Americans die when we go to war).

Also because our economy and role in the world is much bigger than China's or India's.
